my little wanderings around the east village

i am learning how to walk again, and it's very rewarding to be able to do that in a place where people actually walk. i think my recovery is going faster since i do have interesting things to look at in my walks, like weird little store fronts and stranger people. i'm not yet courageous enough to photograph people, but i think it will get easier here, just by their sheer volume. and many of them are surely used to being in front of cameras.

the following photos were taken on october 7th, 2006.

Raul Candy Store: there's usually a bunch of interesting characters hanging out in front, and the day i took the photo no one was around, but i was still paranoid someone would care i was taking a picture of their establishment. one day i'll actually go inside and buy some candy.

ill ill ill ill ill. nuff said.

this is hard to see, but i found a space invader on a building. here is a link to nyc's space invaders map.

mama's food shop has got an awesome sign. cheekan!!!!!

one of my poor attempts at photographing an "action" scene, with real live people.

PEGLEG!! can you imagine me, hobbling down the street with my cane, when i saw this? it really spoke to me.

i kinda like it when religious symbols are all made up in neon lights.

well that's it for now folks. i know this is a piddling amount of photos, but believe me, more there will be.
